Clariol Professional Flare Me

I’ve always loved to experiment with my hair. I remember back when I was only 12 years old and had hair that fell all that way down my back. I decided that it was so long, why not donate it? My mom agreed and was so happy that she allowed me to add temporary purple streaks. That’s when my love for hair color began.

Now that I work in a professional environment, it’s been a really long time since I played with fun colors. When I received this VoxBox from Influenster, I was so excited! In the box was everything you could need to color you hair: bleach, color, developer, special shampoo and condition as well as a leave in treatment. I thought that the best way to play with color would be to create an ombré effect. Plus, if I messed up I could always get a haircut.

To start, I pulled my hair into pig tails. I thought this would be the easiest way to make sure I didn’t go crazy with the bleach. I mixed the Clairol BW2 Powder Lightener and Clairol Pure White 20 Developer. I applied the bleach to the bottom 2-3 inches of hair.

They say that you want the hair to be a light blond color and that you can leave the bleach on for up to 40 minutes. I was really terrified of frying my hair and checked it constantly. I thought I achieved the light blond after 30 minutes and washed it out. Though, for the pictures, it looks like I could have left it on a little longer. At  this point, I was really scared that the brassiness of my hair would turn the pull to a green color.

The next part was the hardest: coloring the hair. I used the Clairol Flare Me in Be You Blue. The dye comes in a resealable tube, so you can save any unused portion for a later date. For me, I decided to use the whole tube and all of the Clairol Pure White 10 developer. At first, I tried to apply the dye while keeping my hair in pigtails but it was too hard to keep it even. So I undid them and focused most of the dye on the ends and then worked it up past the bleach so as to create the ombré. Once all of the dye is placed, let it sit for 30 minutes.

I rinsed out the color until the water ran clear and then used the Clairol iThrive Vibrancy Shampoo and iThrive Vibrancy Conditioner. They have a light, fruity smell and left my hair feeling soft. I also used the Clairol iThrive Vibrancy Intense Repair Therapy to help with any damage. They also included a leave in treatment. The iThrive Keratin Reduce Split End Repair is a leave in treatment that not only leaves you hair silky smooth, but helps to repair any damage.

Now, the Clariol Flare Me claims to not bleed which can be a big problem for towels and pillow cases. In the picture above, you can see how the towel is still white. I used this to dry my hair the first two times I washed it. There was no bleeding on the towel, my white shirt or on my pillow case.

The color came out really well! I was happy to see it was more of a navy color than a bright blue. I am also happy to say that the brass tones in my hair did not cause it to pull green. I have not noticed any fading or bleeding. My hair feels so healthy, soft and shiny. I am so happy with this product and so excited to play with more colors.

Would you every dye your hair a crazy color?

L’Oréal Infallible Total Cover Foundation Review

When I first heard about this product, I was ecstatic! I mean a drugstore foundation that is matte, long wearing and inexpensive? What more could I ask for? I really enjoy the infallible matte and porless foundation so I had very high hopes.

I decided to first try applying this foundation with a beauty blender. It seemed to go on easy and blend with no problems. The only thing was that after one layer, I could still see my freckles and my acne spots where still very apparent. After going in with a second layer, it seemed to help.

My major complaint is that is seemed to cling to dry spots and settle into fine lines. I applied around 7am and by 5pm my oils had come through and broken up the foundation on my forehead and nose.

I wasn’t so impressed so I decided to give the foundation another try. Where as the first time I applied it to a sponge and then blended it in, this time I chose to use my Artis Oval 7 brush. I worked in sections, apply the foundation to my skin, blending and then moving to another section. Here are the results:

So using the Artist brush, I got a much more full coverage application. But, I still had a major problem with my dry areas. On my nose and chin, the foundation exaggerated every piece of dry skin.

Overall, I give this foundation a 5/10. I think that the coverage is decent but it is drying. I think this will work better when my skin is not as dry in the spring/summer. That being said, I’ll stick to my Kat Von D Lock It foundation for now.

Hope you find this review helpful and remember, find something to smile about every day.

Wet N Wild Catsuit Liquid Lipstick Review

I love a lipstick that can stay all day. Between work, school and my home life, I always forget to check and reapply my lipstick. I love the idea of being able to swipe on my favorite color and be able to wear in the office without a second thought. Ever since I learned about liquid lipsticks, I have been on the hub for the perfect formula. Ideally, I need something that not only stays all day but isn’t overally drying. Well, I think I’ve finally found what I’ve been searching for.

Wet n Wild is a drugstore brand sold in the US. They recently launched the Catusiy Liquid Lipstick in 13 colors: nudie patootie, nudist peach, coral corruption, pink really hard, rebel rose, give me mocha, berry recognize, nice to fuchsia, oh my dolly, flame of the game, missy and fierce, video vixen, and goth topic. I purchased all shades except for give me mocha, because it had been out of stock.

Overall, I LOVE this formula. It is pigmented and glides on easily. The applicator is unique. It has a divet that not only picks up product, but fits the contour of your lip. Each color dries down matte completely and is transfer proof. While they are a tad drying, I find them to be very comfortable through out the day and they do not over exaggerate my lip lines. The color stays vibrate and perfect all day.

I would recommend to start by exfoliating and moisturizing your lips as well as staying hydrated. Though you can wear these alone, I would recommend using a lip liner for the darker colors. It may also be helpful to use a lip brush to apply the darker colors, so as to get a clean lip line. The only colors I was not a fan of was video vixen and goth topic. They both seemed a little patchy to me.

Overall, I highly recommend this product. They are not only affordable but amazing quality. They best part is, you can usually get them on sale! CVS frequently does buy one get one 50% off and Walgreens recently had these on sale at 3 for $10.

I hope you find this review helpful! Below you will find swatches for 12 of the 13 shades (give me mocha coming soon).

Update: finally got my hands of Give Me Mocha and it is georgous! Here is a picture of all the colors swatched.
