Boxycharm: February 2018

Happy February! I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day and Presidents’ Day. It is my favorite part of the month again: Boxycharm! This month, I received products from CoverFx, Pur, Ofra and more.

If you aren’t familiar with Boxycharm, it is a monthly beauty subscription box. For only $21 a month, you receive 5 full sized beauty products. While it is a beauty themed box, it does tend to be heavier on makeup than skincare. If you want to more, you can check it out here.

the products

The first product I saw when I opened my box was the Crown Brush Pro Brush Contour Trio ($30). I got excited because I am always happy to try out new brushes.

All three brushes were soft and comfortable to hold. The large tapered brush works really well to contour. It applies powder nicely and doesn’t leave me with a harsh line. The medium brush is a little more dense. They say it is good for contour but I feel it would apply too much product. I love using it for under eye setting powder and for applying highlight. The smallest brush is the most dense and works well for concealing the under eyes as wells as spot concealing. I also really like using it for eyeshadow. It is great for packing on product and then blending it into the crease. Overall, I really like these brushes!

The next thing in our box was actually a two in one. The first part was the Ofra Pop-Up Palette Mini ($19) and with that we received a Godet Blush Refill in Winter Rose Glow ($12). The blush is really beautiful on. It applied evenly and was easy to blend out. Also, it was not too pigmented. I am really excited to have the pop-up magnetic palette. I really enjoy the size, how it can stand up and I think it will be perfect to travel with. Now I am inspired to pick up a bronzer, contour, highlight  and a few eyeshadow pans to make my perfect travel kit.

I love a good lip exfoliator and use one almost every day.  I recently had to throw an old one away and was elated to see the PÜR X-Faux Lips Plumping Lip Exfoliator ($17) included with this month’s box. With shea butter, raw sugar and exfoliating bead, this “4-in-1 lip scrub pencil exfoliates, plumps, hydrates and soothes.” I love this pen because it is perfect to travel with. It also really exfoliates my lips with a minimal amount of product and leaves my lips feeling soft and hydrated. It reminds me a lot of another one of the my favorites, the ELF Lip Exfoliator ($3). I find the best way to use this is to gently swipe across the lips and then use a finger to actually exfoliate the lips. Then just wipe away the product and apply your favorite balm. Ill do this before starting my makeup routine and by the time I’m done, my lips are perfectly prepped for lipstick.

Probably the least exciting product in the box has to be the Vintage Eyeliner Pencil ($21!). The pencil is creamy and I was able to wear it in my waterline. Sadly, it isn’t super black or super pigmented. Even in the waterline, it seemed to wear away quickly. Honestly, I wouldn’t purchase this liner especially not for $21. If you want an amazing affordable liner, check on the gel liners from Japonesque ($20 for 3).

Now, for my favorite product in the box. This month we received a newly released product, the CoverFX Shimmer Veil in Amethyst ($28). These are described as a multi-use shimmering cream color that doesn’t crease and I have to say, I’m obsessed.

There are so many ways to wear this product. I have worn it on my lids, as an inner corner highlight, cheekbone highlight, and lip topper. The formula is beautiful and I haven’t had any issues with fallout or creasing. I think that this is worth the $28 and I definitely want to pick up more colors. This product will be so fun for summer festivals, concerts, a girls night out or just to add a little sparkle to any look.

final thoughts

This month, I really enjoyed 5 of the 6 products I received. The only product I wasn’t a huge fan of, the eyeliner, isn’t terrible and I will continue to use it. Honestly, I am so impressed that Boxycharm somehow managed to include a product that is only 2 months old. I am so excited to see where Boxycharm will go this year. So far, they are off to an amazing start with incredible boxes in both January and February.

What product are you most excited for this month?
